The Bottom Drawer has launched a new nationwide garden design and landscaping wedding gift list service for couples that want to have their garden re-modeled as their wedding gift. This unique online service is free and targets couples who have already set-up their home (including 2nd time marriages) providing them with an alternative to the home-style wedding list services currently available from department stores and similar online based companies. The couple benefit as a landscaped garden will increase the value of their home compared to a traditional wedding list made up of disposable household items.
The entire service is provided online. To create a garden gift list, the couple begin by choosing up-to 3 landscape gardeners from the nationwide (county based) online directory. All Bottom Drawer landscape gardeners are members of either BALI (the British Association of Landscape Industries) or APL (Association of Professional Landscapers) and meet defined quality standards determined by the associations.
Having met with the landscape gardeners, the couple decide from the quotes/designs provided which gardener they would like to work with. The Bottom Drawer produces a wedding gift list comprising all elements that make up the couple's garden including patio, decking, water feature, lighting, turf, ornaments, pots, plants, garden tools etc. and gift vouchers. Most gifts are listed as a single item, but costly items such as a patio, is broken down into gift amounts of £30-£50 so guests can contribute towards the item. Guests can view the wedding list and garden design online and buy gifts through the secure online system or order gifts over the phone using the 'gift ordering hotline'.
Via the security controlled 'Couples' private area on the website, a couple can view their list to see what items are still available and what have been bought (along with the guests' details and the personal message that they've written). To notify guests, couples receive free gift list notification cards to include in their invitation.
The list is managed online and once closed (two weeks post wedding day), the couple receive a final summary of their list and are sent the guests' gift money collected by The Bottom Drawer, to commence the landscaping of their garden with their gardener.
Included as part of the service, The Bottom Drawer works with the couple to produce a budget and 'wish-list' of their garden requirements so that they can effectively brief their landscape gardeners. And on completion of the couple's garden The Bottom Drawer will publish photos on the website for guests to view the finished garden.
